The Challenge

Can your team cover 1,400 km in one month?

To raise funds for Herbie and awareness of DMD, we are challenging volunteers to come together in teams and, during the month of March, for each team to cover 1400km (the distance from Lands End to John O’Groats).

This can be achieved by any self-propelled means – team members can walk, run, cycle, row, swim, indoors or out, whatever they like! At the end of each day, each team will submit their distances and teams will be able to track their progress on the Help 4 Herbie Challenge website and race against other teams to the finish. The website will update to have a live map of the teams' progress on the front page.

Every step counts.

Thank you to everyone from the bottom of my heart for your support and donations – it means the world to us and will be so vital in helping Herbie and to his quality of life.

So what should you do next?

  1. Register via our forms here. (We would appreciate if you could make a donation our GoFundMe page although this is not mandatory.)

  2. Ask your friends, family and colleagues to sign up and/or donate too - together we'll succeed in raising the funds needed to buy Herbie’s wheelchair.

  3. Save the date - don’t forget to mark 1 March 2024 in your calendar. And don’t forget to check and bookmark the website – we’ll be sharing further details of the Help 4 Herbie  Challenge on the website in the run-up.

  4. Share on social media - use the hashtag #Help4Herbie to boost your fundraising efforts and let others know about your challenge.

FAQs

  • Can I use an electric scooter? I’m afraid not! You need to be self-propelled.

  • How big can my team be? There is no limit but we suggest you keep it to 15 or fewer so that there is still some level of challenge!

  • Do team members need to be local? No! People can join in from anywhere in the world.

  • How much should I donate and how do I do that? However much you want. There is no limit, either upper or lower! Please donate here.

  • How should we log our distances? We suggest you use Strava to track distances across your team. Your designated team captain should log the distances with us using this form, either daily or weekly.

  • Can I log my progress in miles rather than km? If you could convert it to km for us, we'd appreciate it! You can use this online translator if you like.
